Ayat Shah is a current PGY-1 going on PGY-2 Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Resident at Trinity Health in Muskegon, Michigan.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Ayat had the unique experience of pursuing medicine abroad in Bangladesh: this sensitized her to global health needs as she studied within a foreign medical and cultural environment. Prior to residency, she worked as a Public Health intern for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, where she led efforts to improve healthcare access for Rohingya refugees.

In her free time, Ayat enjoys running, training for marathons, and engaging in community health initiatives. Ayat’s professional interests include sports medicine, social medicine and the application of osteopathic principles in the practice of medicine. With her non-traditional educational background, she seeks to bridge the gap between MDs and DOs.
