Matthew Spousta is a current PGY2 going on PGY3 internal medicine resident at University of Michigan Health-West in Wyoming, Michigan.

After obtaining his Bachelors of Neuroscience from the University of California-Riverside, he attended Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana where he completed his osteopathic medical degree. 

After residency, he plans to work as a hospitalist and become involved in medical education. He aspires to help residents and medical students bridge the gap between traditional osteopathy and modern hospital medicine.

Gagandeep Singh is a current PGY2 going on PGY3 family medicine resident at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He obtained his osteopathic medical degree from Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Prior to his osteopathic education, he worked with at-risk adolescents and young adults. His aspirations in medicine include the longitudinal care of marginalized/minority populations (i.e. at-risk youth, immigrants, LGBTQ+); as well as working with community organizations in health outreach.

His clinical interests include the intersections of osteopathic philosophy in family and community care, art in medicine, adolescent and at-risk medicine, and medical education.

Nicholas Salupo is a current PGY3 internal medicine resident at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio – and will be continuing to a Nephrology Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He obtained his osteopathic medical degree from Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Nicole Fremarek is the AAO’s 2022-2023 Resident of the Year, and is a current ONMM3 resident at HCA Healthcare LewisGale Hospital-Montgomery/VCOM in Blacksburg, Virginia – where she will also be training in Sports Medicine following graduation.

She is a graduate from Kansas City University where she received dual D.O./M.B.A, and completed family medicine training at the University of Michigan Health-West Family Medicine Residency in Wyoming, Michigan.

Her clinical interests include the application of osteopathic practice in the care of athletes and aspires to work with professional sport teams (her favorites are the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs!).

Elexander Atkinson, DO

Elexander (Elec) Atkinson is a current PGY3 family medicine resident at the Novant Health Family Medicine residency in Charlotte, North Carolina - where he also serves as Chief Resident. He completed his osteopathic medical degree from VCOM-Carolina.

He will be graduating this year and begin his ONMM3 year at VCOM-Virginia in Blacksburg, Virginia in July. He plans to practice family medicine and OMM upon graduation from residency and be involved in medical education.

His clinical interests include chronic disease management, mental health, and OMM.

Leah Goedecke is a current PGY3 NMM resident at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan – where she also serves as Chief Resident. She will be attending the Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Toledo following graduation.

Prior to her medical education, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Arizona. She obtained her osteopathic medical degree from Midwestern University- Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Her clinical interests include osteopathic care in sports and athletics. She has a passion for boxing and is a member of USA boxing as a ringside physician.
